Whatsapp may be testing a new feature in a future update that works like iMessage do in Litter ecosystem. The company is working to keep chats up to date across all connected devices.
According to a recent post by WABetaInfo (opens in new tab)WhatsApp will notify users in the chat window that their chats are being synced.
There is no clarity on how messages are transferred to the secondary device. Synchronization, however, will only be done at the time of linking or logging in. You will still need to be connected to the network when doing this.
As seen in the screenshot, there is a message that shows that the chat history is being synced to the device.
as reported previouslycompanion mode will allow users to link multiple devices such as smartphones or tablets. While your primary phone stays connected and goes offline, you can use the service on another device. Now we know how the company intends to keep its chats up to date across all devices.
The feature was detected on an Android device, but the company will also roll out the feature for iOS. Being an early development feature, it may take a few months to get to the full version of the software.
Secure transfer?
There’s definitely more to find out about the way the new feature works. But, it is safe to assume that messages are never sent to WhatsApp servers and then downloaded to the device.
Similar to the way you would log in on the desktop or web version, it basically just links a device to the account. The secondary device will continue to function as the primary device as long as you are connected and connected to the Internet. The report claims that it works similarly to linking a desktop to the account.
This is a feature that may work in conjunction with the planned iPadOS app. Many users in the Apple ecosystem are missing the edge that Android users are enjoying. The company will also port the same application to the Mac OS also.
