OnePlus 10T sacrifices alert slider to support 150W fast charging

The OnePlus 10T is just over a week away from launching in New York on August 3 and new reports have surfaced about the fate of the beloved alert slider. The company has confirmed that the upcoming flagship will not receive the alert slider. OnePlus also clarified why this was done.

Chinese smartphone maker confirmed (opens in new tab) told The Verge that the OnePlus 10T is saying goodbye to the alert slider. This was done to make room for other internal hardware components inside the premium smartphone. Hope Liu, senior industrial director and lead designer at Oppo and OnePlus, confirmed in the report that the smartphone will come with some improvements in battery and network capabilities. He added that the alert slider took up significant space on the smartphone’s motherboard, although the slider itself was small.

While the company has yet to reveal the device’s specs, rumor has it that we could see a 4,800mAh battery with support for 150W fast charging. The second new component that allows for this high-speed charging is why the smartphone required such a sacrifice.
