IFA 2022 will see the return of Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show and will take place from September 2-6 in Berlin, Germany.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, last year’s event was canceled and the year before, attendance was strictly reduced,
So the news that IFA 2022 will once again be an in-person event will be a welcome one for anyone who wants to glimpse the technology some of the world’s biggest companies are working on.
We should see some big announcements from the likes of LG and Samsung, as well as presentations from Lenovo, Huawei, and more.
There’s one big name that seems to be missing this year, however: Sony. We haven’t heard anything about its plans, and considering how dominant the Japanese company is in TV, audio, and entertainment, it’s odd that it won’t be at this year’s event despite participating in previous IFAs.
We’ve reached out to Sony to learn their plans, and until then, we’ve read one to find out what Does know about who is participating and what they are showing.
We will also be attending the event and bringing you the latest news, releases and hands-on analysis when the show kicks off on September 2nd.
What is IFA?

- What brands will be there? Most of the major tech companies, including LG and Samsung, will be there, as will Huawei, Lenovo and Asus. It looks like Sony won’t show up, however, and Apple never attends the IFA, preferring to host its own events.
What to expect from IFA 2022
IFA 2022: Samsung
Samsung is one of the biggest technology companies in the world, with a huge range of products. While it usually leaves its biggest ads, especially when it comes to smartphones, for its own ‘Unpacked’ events, it usually showcases its TVs, audio and home appliances at the IFA.
Despite not attending last year and instead hosting its ‘Life Unstoppable’ event at the same time, Samsung appears to be back at IFA 2022.
We don’t currently know much about what Samsung is likely to reveal this year, but rumor has it that we could see a slew of new SmartThings products, which is Samsung’s IoT (Internet of Things) platform for smart fridges, washing machines, and more. .
Fortunately, we can also get some new micro-LED TVs from Samsung, as well as computing accessories.
IFA 2022: LG
LG usually has a big presence at the IFA, and while the company’s days of showing off its smartphones are long gone, it has a huge range of devices it will likely want to showcase at this year’s event.
Again, we haven’t heard any concrete rumors about what LG will bring to IFA 2022, but we do expect to see some great new TVs, projectors and gadgets.
IFA 2022: TCL
TCL is known for its affordable TVs that drastically reduce the competition when it comes to price, especially during events like Black Friday. TCL has announced that it will be at IFA 2022, and it’s going big, with a global press conference on September 1 and a major exhibition for the rest of the week with “an expansive TCL booth spanning over 2,500 square meters.”
According to TCL, it will showcase “the latest displays, soundbars and smart wearables, along with a full range of smart home appliances and a variety of new TV prototypes.”
It certainly looks exciting, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store.
IFA 2022: Huawei
Huawei’s problems with the US and its companies continue, but it is still committed to IFA 2022.
The Chinese company has been a big presence at the IFA in recent years, including using the event to announce a new smartphone.
While we’re not sure what Huawei has in store for IFA 2022, it’s likely to showcase its mobile devices, along with its growing laptop and networking product lines.
IFA 2022: Honor
Honor, once a sub-brand of Huawei but now a force to be reckoned with in its own right, will be at IFA 2022,
It’s already announced that it will be holding a keynote at 5pm CEST / 11am ET / 4pm BST on September 2nd, and we’ll likely see smartphones, laptops, tablets, headphones and more from the company.
IFA 2022: Philips
Philips and its parent company TP Vision will once again be a big presence at IFA 2022, and we expect to see new TV and audio devices as well as kitchen appliances and perhaps even more Hue smart home lighting products.
IFA 2022: Qualcomm
Once again, the keynote address for IFA 2022 will be from Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon. He also spoke at last year’s keynote, and while Qualcomm might not be the most well-known name, it’s a company that has products that power many of its devices, especially smartphones and tablets.
Amon hinted that his talk will be about 5G, AI and the ‘smart edge’ – whatever it is.
We can also see new laptops powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset (instead of more common processors from Intel and AMD). Of all the companies at IFA 2022, Qualcomm may be the one that will give us the biggest insight into the future of technology.
IFA 2022: Garmin
Garmin is expected to appear at the IFA and could use the big tech event to showcase more new products.
The company specializes in fitness trackers, so there’s a good chance we’ll see some new and improved devices that will help us monitor our fitness levels as we exercise.
